Community College CTE Program Approval - Requirements
    Instructions
There are specific requirements, processes and timelines associated with the approval or amendment of career and technical education (CTE) programs and courses at community colleges. Laws, administrative rules, State Board of Education policies, Department procedures, and input from the field have guided the development of the CTE program and course approval procedures.

It is essential that these procedures be completed carefully and according to deadlines to minimize unnecessary efforts and delays. It is expected that community college administrators be well acquainted with these procedures and provide relevant training to the appropriate faculty and staff on their campus.

External link The Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development provides several important publications (FTE Guidelines, Community College Viewbook, Catalog of Lower Division Collegiate Courses, etc.) at http://www.oregon.gov/CCWD/pub_rpts.shtml External link that also should be consulted. The Community College Handbook and the Accreditation Handbook are additional important resources. The forms, handouts, and other links below are important references related to program approval and amendment and provide guidance concerning required standards, elements, assurances, and procedures.
Becoming and remaining well-acquainted with these and other applicable resources is essential for developing quality CTE programs and efficiently navigating the program approval and amendment processes. It is a goal shared by college and state leaders that local campus capacity is developed and expanded so colleges are able to independently address issues related to CTE program approval and administration. Consequently, it is expected that college personnel refer to the available resources for guidance and answers to questions prior to contacting their designated college CTE Program Approval Point-of-Contact. Similarly, the college CTE Program Approval Point-of-Contact (POC) is asked to refer to these resources for guidance and answers to questions prior to contacting the EII CTE Program Approval Point-of-Contact.
